Cyanotype Papers and Book Binding - Weekend Retreat

from 250.00

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2019 10am - 4pm

Join us for a weekend of total relaxation and explore the creative art of Cyanotype papers and book binding. Helen Parry from ‘edelHANDMADEBOOKS’ will show you how to use the beautiful gardens surrounding ‘The Lodge’ for our source materials, and spend time creating our cyanotypes, these will then be used as the covering materials for our books.

Cyanotypes are images produced using a camera less photographic printing process developed in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, it creates a striking and easily recognisable blue print paper.

This is a wonderful opportunity to create a unique one off personal design for your hand stitched books. You will produce two different books; one a traditional binding and one a contemporary Secret Belgian binding. You will leave with the skills to reproduce the style of books again at home.

This workshop is available as both residential and non residential. All materials, refreshments and a light lunch are included.

If you would like to stay with us ‘The Lodge’ can offer Bed & Breakfast accommodation in one of its six luxurious en-suite bedrooms. Please see drop down boxes for prices. Evening meals are available at the near by pub ‘The Cock’ winner of the 2019 Nation Pub of the year award, it’s just a 4 minute walk from ‘The Lodge’

Should you have any questions about this weekend workshop then please do give us a call on 01480 381457.
