Photographing Your Makes - One Day Workshop

from 55.00

Saturday 12th October 10am - 4pm

Does this sound familiar?...... You’ve spent hours creating a beautiful piece of handiwork and you want to show it off.  You take lots of pictures but either the lighting is not quite right, your image is blurry or you just can’t see all the fabulous detail.

Want to learn some tricks of the trade to show off your goods?

Want to understand what terms like “flatlay” and “in-context” mean and how they can improve your images?

Then this workshop is for you!

Ideally suited to those who are looking to turn their craft business into something more serious. Discover some of the fundamental rules of product photography that will make a real difference to showcasing your wares.

This workshop will begin with discussing what makes a good (and bad) “sales” image.  You’ll then learn how to make the most of natural light and try other forms of lighting.  This will enable you to select the most appropriate place, at home, to use for your pictures.  Next, you will be guided through some basic aspects of staging and get chance to stage your own items.  Using your own camera or phone you’ll take a whole range of photographs. We will then finish with examples of important editing practices. Comprehensive notes will be available to take home.

On the day we will cover:

Lighting – using natural light, making your own reflector, how to soften the contrast from artificial lights, how to choose an appropriate background

Staging – ensuring your images show context, scale and detail

Editing – colour temperature, brightness, cropping and image size

You will need to bring your camera with you and any items you would like to photograph we will supply refreshments throughout the day. you can bring your own packed lunch or upgrade to have lunch with us for £12.00.
